1942 – 2010
Donald Eugene “Don” Briley, 68, of Chanute, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Don was born in Thayer, Kansas on April 2, 1942, the son of George and Marjorie (Barker) Briley. He graduated from Chanute High School.
He served his country in the United States Navy.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Boardman on February 26, 1965 in Chanute. She survives of the home.
Don was a loader operator for Ash Grove Cement Company for over thirty nine years until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Along with his wife Patricia, he is survived by his children, Tom DeCoster, Dale DeCoster, Robert DeCoster, Kathleen Matlock, Yvonne Cummings, Sherry Cooper and Pam Briley; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Briley of Gardner, KS; a niece and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons, Kenny Briley and Scotty Briley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials in his name may be made to Patricia Briley to assist with Funeral Expenses and may be left with the funeral home.
